For those that don’t know me, I am the current President of the Bay Point Waterfront and Canalfront Property Owners Association. My sole purpose this morning is to alert those on the Canal or Waterfront of the potential impacts of what is now Tropical Depression 19. This likely will be upgraded to a Tropical Storm in the near future, and in fact there is now a TS watch covering our area. Right now the forecast is for the storm to stay south of us, but we will feel impacts, to include heavy rain at times, and some wind and gusts. CURRENTLY, the most wind forecast locally is around 20-25 mph, starting perhaps late Monday into Tuesday. The main point is that the forecast has a lot of uncertainty, both in track and intensity, so I encourage you to use whatever sources you have to stay informed. A good variety of info is on https://spaghettimodels.com/ It MAY, I REPEAT, MAY be necessary to issue a Canal Closure order, to let those that feel the need, to tie their vessels out. If this becomes necessary, I will post here, and info will be in the Bay Point website. This arose with fairly short notice, and over the weekend, so we will have to stay flexible and informed. Thanks for your continued attention to this, and let’s all cross our fingers, and pray for a good outcome for all!
